About
My name is Jason Nichols and I am a technical writer and trainer at ReadSoft, for its document automation solutions for SAP. I have been a Technical Writer since 1998. I have worked in the telecommunications, mobile phone, and e-commerce industries. This job is great because it allows me to engage in two things I have a passion for: writing and technology.
I grew up in Sydney, Australia, and since 2001 have lived in Germany and now Helsingborg, Sweden.

Congratulations Jason on starting the blog and welcome to the growing number of technical communicators who are realising the value of them. I look forward to reading your posts.
Thanks for your warm welcome, Colum. I agree, there is definitely lots to be gained by blogging.
Well done Jason! I like your web pages – recently I used all the new training material that you created. The feedback was just fantastic.
Thank you Tobias for your encouragement.
Hi Jason
I was reading your interview on your work using Airhelp. Great article. We are investigating using Airhelp under linux. Now we have 450 plus employee so we cannot install this locally. I don’t really understand why you need admin rights on each clients computer to install it. What about update ? Any help will be appreciated Tx Thomas
Hi Thomas, the AIRHelp application is just that, an application. It is therefore installed on the computer. It’s not like CHM where you can just copy the file across. As for updates, I assume admin rights are required here as well (although I’ve never tested this). At my company employees have admin rights to install software, so AIRHelp works. There is a blog post by Oliver Goldman from Adobe about this issue: http://blogs.adobe.com/simplicity/2009/04/should_air_support_non_admin_app_install.html
Maybe you could try hosted HTML output instead? If you have further questions, you can post to the RoboHelp AIRHelp forum: http://forums.adobe.com/community/robohelp/airhelp. Lots of good info here about this (still new) output format.
Tx Jason
appreciated

Hi, Jason-
Great site. I’ve added your feed to the Techdoc Superfeed (http://technicalwritingworld.com/page/techdoc-superfeed).
Thanks!

Great! Thanks Arnold. Very good idea with the super feed. I will be informing my colleagues about it.
I happened to come across your blog, very interesting articles and videos on Adobe Captivate, iPad, etc.!
PS: I tried to connect with you on LinkedIn, but didn’t see a button that would let me send an invite.
Cheers, Michael Hinze
Thanks Michael for your feedback. Glad you like the site. I just sent you a LinkedIn invitation.
